À propos de l'événement
Energy is life and we can never do without it. It doesn't just happen to be in the socket at home, or at the petrol pump, or at the electricity point. Everything behind it depends on ever more innovative technologies, but also on the geopolitical forces at play. The naive view that some people have taken of energy in recent years is leading to divisions and disillusionment. Without abundant and cheap energy, the European Union will continue to reduce its competitiveness and therefore its prosperity. Danger!
Prof. Samuel Furfari is a Chemical Engineer from the ULB. He received his Ph.D. from the same university with a thesis in the field of energy. Between 1982 and 2018, he was a senior official at the Energy Directorate-General of the European Commission, where he has devoted an entire career to energy technology and policy. Since 2003 he is a professor of energy geopolitics and energy politics, for 18 years at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and now at ESCP (London campus). He is the author of 18 books on energy and sustainable development and many articles. From 2019 to 2022, he was President of the European society of engineers and industrialists. He is Knight of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
