After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union, Europe entered a new era of hope, redirecting resources from defense to welfare, health, and education, yet conflicts soon reminded us of global realities. Since then, developments—some promising, many troubling—have shaped today’s uncertain world. Rick Froh , President of Allied Support Services International Group (ASSIG) and Executive Director of the Dr Manfred Wörner Circle at NATO, offers unique perspective, drawing on his experience as a senior Canadian Armed Forces officer and former NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Armaments, Operations, and Senior Civilian in Iraq.
